I’m Mari. I was born in Porto Alegre, in the south of Brazil, more specifically in the southern part of the city. It’s a place where life moves a little slower, surrounded by nature.
I grew up spending my vacations on a farm, surrounded by animals. Sheep, horses, cows, pigs, chickens, and many birds. Nature was always close.
It was common to have an orphan lamb that needed to be bottle-fed. We called them “guachinho”. And we loved taking care of them. Who wouldn’t? That memory is where my first pendant came from, the little sheep.
In the countryside of southern Brazil, all of this is part of everyday life. As well as wearing ponchos, wool blankets, and wool slippers to face the cold. Sheep and wool have always been part of my story. Bringing wool into my jewelry is, for me, a way of carrying a small piece of my roots with those who wear it.
I started working with jewelry during the pandemic. For many years I worked as a graphic designer, and in 2020 most of my clients were restaurants and shopping mall stores. When the pandemic hit, I lost almost all my work. Making accessories started as a hobby, but it slowly became something more serious. Until it became my profession.
Today, my background in graphic design is very present in my jewelry. A more minimal, functional, and aesthetic approach. I launched my brand under my own name in 2024, after a lot of insecurity. And it was one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself.
When I started creating jewelry, my goal was to bring back those simple memories that shaped my story. That’s how the bergamot, pitanga, and João de Barro pendants were born. Figures that have always been part of my world. Then came Frida, my parents’ dachshund. That pendant became a success. And from there, I created many other dog breeds. Today there are 19.
I now live in Chapecó, in the west of Santa Catarina, right on the border with Rio Grande do Sul. From here, I ship worldwide. And this is the best part of my work, getting to know people from all over the world. There are so many amazing people out there.
I work with matte sterling silver and gold-plated silver. I also make pieces in solid 18k gold upon request. Every piece is made by me, by hand, with great care. Since it’s just me, I don’t always have items ready to ship. In those cases, production takes up to 20 business days. It’s always a good idea to message me on WhatsApp to check.
